A mother cuddles her daughter
in the entrance to their subterranean home
in central Ulan Bator, Mongolia.
The bitterly cold January morning comes as a relief after a stuffy night underground.
Other two younger children are still below.
Pictures of the homeless and street children are not uncommon.
They are usually shot in a particular way to elicit sympathy or pity.
Street children are often portrayed as victims but although we can safely agree that
their circumstances are hardly the best,
they tackle the problems of life with vigour and immense resourcefulness
